Silversmith's Handbook

Old Time Silversmithing

This site is based on two books about silversmithing published before power tools were generally available.
  1. The Silversmith's handbook by George E. Gee was published in 1921
  2. Metalworking and Enamelling by Herbert Maryon was published in 1923

Both authors were highly regarded artists as well as authors and their works have stood the test of time.  Maryon has been reprinted and has several positive Amazon reviews.  Gee has also been reprinted, but seems to be less popular.

In any case, the purpose of this site is to use their work to tie together silversmithing past and present.
